Marisol LeBron is a Ph.D. student in American Studies. Marisol graduated with Honors Distinction in Comparative American Studies from Oberlin College in 2007. Her honors thesis focused on the role of community intervention at El Museo del Barrio, a Puerto Rican/Latin@ museum in East Harlem. Marisol is currently at work on a project about the reggaeton subgenre of bhangraton and how it disrupts cultural nationalist discourse about reggaeton. Marisol is also working on a larger project about contradictions of "gay" identity in the Bronx, and how the "queer Bronx" challenges neoliberal ideas about contemporary "gay" urban spaces. Marisol's research interests include: Puerto Rican and Latin@ cultural production, hip hop, reggaeton, citizenship, queer of color critique, and ambivalence.
